Download what the router knows, not just what it is set to Three things are added. The chassis gains the board name, the architecture and the RouterOS version. The version is the one that mattered: the vm boots CHR 7.21 and the router turns out to run 7.11beta4, so the vm has been answering questions about a RouterOS two years newer than the one being deployed to. A second export with every default spelled out. Too long to read, but a parameter printed at its default is a parameter this router knows the name of, which is what tells an unknown name from a merely unused one. The comment block RouterOS puts at the top of an export is dropped. It carries the time of the export, so keeping it made every download a diff, and the serial number and software id, which identify the router to MikroTik and have no business in a committed file.
