Colour the reports, and pin the colour down with the rest of them The colour was conditional on something watching, which made it the one part of a report that nothing ever compared: the first time it came out wrong would have been in front of a person. Now it is unconditional, and the golden files hold the escape codes along with the words, so a marker that changed colour fails the build like any other change to a report. That also removes the second rendering path. Rendering plain text meant dropping the annotations by hand, because rendering through the terminal backend leaves reset sequences behind even when the style paints nothing, and with the annotations kept there is nothing left to do but hand the diagnostic to diagnose.
